Eine Privatinsel der Reederei Norwegian Cruise Line vor Belize nimmt uns für einen weiteren heißen Sonnentag auf. Uns, das bedeutet nicht nur Gaby und Siegfried, sondern weitere ca. 150 Passagiere der Riviera, die sich auf einer Insel tummeln dürfen, die für mehrere tausend Besucher gleichzeitig vorgesehen ist.
Dementsprechend waren auch unendlich viele – jetzt leere – Liegen an einem ca. 1,5 km langen wunderbaren Sandstrand. Alle 75 m beobachtete ein „Safe-Guard“ den leeren Strandabschnitt vor ihm, der in einem drillmäßigen Vorgehen alle 15 Minuten abgelöst wurde, wobei die Guards reihum im Laufschritt jeweils den nächsten Wachturm besetzten und heftig gestikulierend die Übernahme ihres neuen Abschnitts bestätigten. Im 5-Minuten-Rhythmus standen oder saßen die Guards – es war seltsam anzusehen.
Weitere Besonderheit der Insel war eine Schmetterlingsaufzucht, in der wunderbare und vor allem sehr große Exemplare tropischer Schmetterlinge zu besichtigen waren.
